14th April 2020 marks Paradise Park’s 47th birthday

Mike and Audrey Reynolds opened the doors of Paradise Park on 14th April 1973, so today marks our 47th birthday.

The Park has had many achievements including founding the World Parrot Trust with its many projects for parrots, and becoming a centre for breeding Red-billed Choughs plus many other rare and endangered species.

Still run by the family, Paradise Park is an award-winning attraction as well as a centre for conservation. The keeping staff have years of experience in caring for the animals, their commitment evident at this time of crisis when four of them moved in to make sure they can work during the covid19 shutdown joined by those coming in daily as a minimum of eight people a day are needed.

Usually they are also connecting visitors with the wildlife through daily events at this time of year. At the moment our only way to reach out with stories from the Park is via the internet and everyone here has embraced this – our social media is lively with stories at this busy springtime for the birds.

Sadly, if the current shutdown continues beyond a couple of months it will put the Park under a lot of pressure financially, and we have started our first ever fund-raiser to help with this. Times are difficult for everyone right now but please consider a small donation if you can. We want to be here for future generations to visit, experience wildlife close up, and know they are helping the conservation of rare species.

With thanks to everyone for your support and stay safe xx

If you are able to support us and would like to donate please see our donations page here Thank you xx
