Who doesn’t love budgies! Our budgerigar group has arrived, and they are exploring the aviary and chattering together, already visiting the nest boxes.

Budgies Paradise Park Cornwall

There are nine pairs, all bred at Paignton Zoo in Devon. They are the yellow and green colour as seen in nature.

The much-loved member of the parrot family, kept as pets around the world as they can make friendly companions and have the ability to mimic human speech.

They are seed-eating birds, distributed over a large part of Australia. They live in flocks, small or extremely large depending on the availability of food and water.

Naturally green and yellow with black, scalloped markings on the nape, back and wings, they have been bred in captivity to create blues, whites, yellows and greys. The blue cere at the top of the beak shows that the bird in the photo is a male, females have a brown cere.
