Their huge, bright orange beaks make these the most distinctive members of the toucan family.
Their big bills are in fact very light and help the birds reach fruit at the end of branches which would not otherwise take their weight.
Toucans live in the tops of the highest jungle trees, only leaving if a drought creates a shortage of their usual food. If this happens, they have then been known to descend in flocks to orange groves bordering
the forest and cause a lot of damage to crops.
